Apache: The ‘Multi-Purpose’ Revolver

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Apache

Multi-purpose seems a spicy and weird word to describe a revolver but here it fits aptly. Truly speaking, there is no dearth of strange things. I dare not expect a revolver to turn into a mobile phone or a digital camera but at the same time would appreciate if it play smart than mere sticking to its mandatory functionality of shooting lame shots. And that’s where ‘Apache’ comes into picture.

This feature packed revolver is truly a replacement for a firearm, a knuckle-duster and a dagger, all neatly combined. Designed by L. DOLNE à LIEGE with patent filed in 1869, the steel and brass revolver is really a masterpiece. Thought the minuscule apparatus of this bludgeon goes far from being fatal to anyone, the 7 mm caliber revolver is an effective model and can essentially fire real shots. Measuring 110 mm, the revolver expands to 200 mm when extended, and weighs 385 grams.

The Magenicon

And here come yet another home concocted robot. Mike and Stu along with their team are working hard to produce a robot named Magenicon. Don’t mistake by tagging it as any ordinary robot as this android would surely fulfill the greatest ever execution of mechanic beings (smilingly can be a best alternative to your costly but pretty receptionist).

Evolved to be an office robot, the Magenicon runs on Microsoft’s Speech Server. After a little tweaking, the robot performed some mind blowing gestures. It is being programmed to welcome guests, recognize staff, make calls for workers and directs visitors’ through the building. Presently, the robot is in a prototype stage but work is on to build an apposite carcass that can write all the programming mumbo-jumbo. But for sure, if developers behind this creation are thinking to put this into market calling it as a replacement of receptionist then Excuse Me! They really need to work hard on its looks.

Zen PC

With advancement in technology, every new day witnesses some new model packed with unique features. Whilst large structure of PC was marred by minute ones ready to fit into your pockets and huge models of PC got replaced by sleekest ones, still we have an overflow of new models hitting the market. My eyebrows are raised what new can be developed when we have every possible thing right before our eyes. Still, regardless of the physical arrangement, the latest today is intended to turn into archaic at some point.

Fortunately, Zen PC concept is untouched by this occurrence. Stimulated by the creed of zen and authorizeD with the limitless thoughts of ‘z-axis’ interactive computing, the Zen PC, is being tagged as Sandbox PC and is free from any sort of form-restriction. The core of this tablet-like PC resides in its active surface that changes texture considering the need. Calling together the individual parts viz. monitor, keyboard and CPU as PC is no more “in”. Now the time is to have a compact version likewise Zen PC concept that bundles all these apparatus into a paranormal, shape shifting interface.
