First ownership of the new MacBook silver
It defies the conventions of Apple. Until now, each brand had a very different stylistic identity: MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or PowerBook open aluminum finish, while the iBook and MacBook were shiny white plastic. But all this is now history. With their new manufacturing process “unibody”, the new portable public Apple look like their counterparts for professionals? In a word, yes. The new MacBook looks like the new MacBook Pro, smaller. Literally. If there was no mention MacBook, you could not tell the difference unless you look closely at the ports on the side.
This is the same without trackpad button, the same glossy black frame, the same rounded corners, the same keyboard with backlit keys, and the same location for the optical disc drive. Feels almost before the 12-inch MacBook Pro some imaginary long dreamed … even if it is not, especially as the FireWire port has disappeared. The remaining ports include two USB ports, mini-port adapter, an Ethernet port, and jacks for headphones and microphone. Let us dwell for a moment on the trackpad glass. It’s really fantastic. The finish is very studied, and provides a level of resistance touch perfectly balanced than normally found on the MacBook Pro.
The feeling associated with the act of physically click on the trackpad (as on the mouse button) seems strange at first but becomes completely natural in a few seconds. The detection of four fingers is very convincing. A simple touch with four fingers immediately showed Lecture. A quick overview of Spore on a screen 30-inch Cinema allowed us to verify that the new graphics card NVIDIA MacBook is correct, so far without turning the laptop into a real machine games. Overall and until they can test it in more depth, this new model seems to be an interesting choice for the average user Apple in search of a robust and efficient machine.
