New supercomputer from IBM and University of Toronto
Thursday, August 14th, 2008Supercomputer is a new generation of computer that completely changed history of computation. In this row IBM corp. and the University of Toronto are engage to build Canada’s most powerful supercomputer. It is expecting that this supercomputer will be one of the top twenty fastest supercomputers in the world. This Mammoth machine will be capable to store data equivalent to one million regular DVDs and performing 360 trillion calculations per second.
The entire budget of Supercomputer project, including operating costs and construction is $47 million. The strategic initiatives executive Chris Pratt at IBM Canada said that upcoming supercomputer’s power is 30,000 to 40,000 home computers when they are linked together.
